Welcome to the NYC STAC Website

The New York City Support and Technical Assistance Center (STAC) for Adult Literacy Education (ALE) Programs is housed at the Literacy Assistance Center.  As the name indicates, the purpose of the STAC is to provide support and technical assistance to the adult education programs in New York City receiving ALE funding from the New York State Education Department (NYSED) Adult Education Programs and Policy (AEPP) Unit.

The NYC STAC supports and complements the work of the New York City Regional Adult Education Network (RAEN) which provides professional development and support around accountability to programs funded more broadly under NYSED.
For more information about the NYC STAC please contact Nell Eckersley at [email protected]

Fiscal Year 2020 has Begun

There are now 22 ALE-funded programs in New York City, and two of them, the Queens Public Libraries and the YMCA, offer classes at multiple sites.  Classes are offered at no cost to the student and consist of English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Adult Basic Education (ABE) to High School Equivalency Diploma classes for English speakers.

Most programs offer fewer classes in the summer but will soon be have large registration events to place students in their fall classes.  Check out individual programs to see when their registration dates are.
