Riverside Language Program

Agency Location:
270 W 89th Street (between Broadway & West End Avenue), New York, NY 10024

Agency Description:
Riverside Language Program is NYC's sole provider of free, full-time English language, IT skills and civics classes, for newly-arrived adult asylees, refugees and immigrants. Our classes meet from 9am-3pm, Monday-to Friday inclusive. We serve a minimum of 81 ALE students per year. Admission is by lottery (held six times per year) and applicants can find our eligibility requirements and a calendar of our lotteries and classes on our website www.riversidelanguage.org

Agency Highlight:
Bella came to Riverside from her native Dominican Republic. She took two, six-week intensive (9-3pm, M-F), class cycles with teachers Elizabeth and Lindsay and improved her English sufficiently to land a part-time job as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
As well as working, Bella now studies in the CUNY Start program that will prepare her for her goal - to study at CUNY for a future career in nursing. Bella is a wonderful example of Riverside's hard-working ALE students, with a bright future as a working New Yorker!.

Registration Information:
For information on eligibility for Riverside, lottery dates and class cycle dates, please call 212 662 3200  ext: 0.
