Agency Description:
Elmhurst ALC is one of the seven Adult Learning Centers of Queens Library, with professional staff, TAs, Program Assistants and volunteers, who provide educational assistance to adults 17 years of age and older. E-ALC offers ESOL classes, as well as ABE and Pre HSE classes. It also provides workshops for students on various lifeskills topics. This fiscal year there are two ALE classes, both are ESOL with a total of 45 students enrollments.
Agency Highlight:
In fiscal year 2017, two students from Elmhurst Adult Learning Center were selected for inclusion in NYC Gallatin's yearly journal, 'The Literacy Review'. The two writers were Rudolfo dos Santos Rodrigues for his poem, 'Life's apprentice', and a short piece by Yasmeen Saleh, entitled 'My Childhood'. Rodrigues read his poem at the event which was held on May 10, 2017. Both were students of our writing instructor and Program Assistant James McMenamin's writing class.
Registration Information:
The Elmhurst ALC hosts it's official registration for classes four times a year, winter, spring, summer and fall semesters.
