Agency Description:
Make the Road New York (MRNY) enrolls 160 students annually in ALE programming. 1/2 are ESOL beginning literacy students, 1/4 beginning level ESOL students, and the remaining 1/4 ESOL intermediate level students.
Agency Highlight:
El Fachtalia EL Maadadi is an immigrant from Yemen who studied in Don Portolese's ESOL class for the first half of FY 2018. After completing 2 cycles of ESOL at MRNY, El Fachtalia enrolled in MRNY's Bridge to Health Careers class to further build her skills and begin the transition into health career training. El Fachtalia also wrote a wonderful testimony about the importance of adult literacy funding and delivered it at a NY City Council hearing in the Spring of 2017.
Registration Information:
Interested students can call if they are interested in being added to our waiting lists for ESOL classes. Students are contacted when new registrations are scheduled quarterly and are invited to come in for an initial assessment and possible placement.
